Why Pre-Health Students/Alum Should Attend Pre-Health Conference Every Year
Specific reasons why current students and alumni pursuing health professions should attend annually
Did you know pre-health students travel from across California and out-of-state to join us on conference day? This is an opportunity to build connections with school's admissions representatives and gain insights into their application process. We highly encourage our pre-health community, including our Aggies, to attend yearly in order to take advantage of the event that happens at UC Davis to: explore new schools, continue connections, explore their health field, and learn about the application process.
Why current students should attend yearly
1. Find and explore your passion
Whether you have known you wanted to be a doctor since you were 3 years old or are still figuring out your role in a healthcare team, conference is a place to explore within and between professions. Attendees can explore professions during the fair and workshops.
Hear from a current student
"Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone to explore new opportunities and meet health professionals." Andrew T.
2. Network with experts
Has your pre-health advisor ever asked you to follow up with a health professional school? Wondering which schools serve the patient population you want to continue providing care for? Ask the experts! Admissions representatives know their schools in and out and are looking for candidates who are good fits for their school. Additionally, all the schools attending want to come and are interested in recruiting Aggies! Resources on how to ask "good questions" are coming soon!
3. Learn from health professionals
Wonder what a day in the life as a emergency veterinarian is like? Not sure how to study for the MCAT CARS section? Concerned about your interview prep skills? Workshops are a great place to hear from experts in various fields including health professions, test prep, and admissions.
4. Staying motivated
The Pathway to a health professional career can be a long journey and hard work. But it is still possible! This is also a day to have fun and remain inspired for your pre-health journey. Whether you're connecting with professionals who have made it or meeting new lifelong friends.

Why should current applicants attend?
1. Advocate for yourself
Hearing you're one of thousands of applicants repeatedly can be disheartening, to say the least. Take more control of your application by connecting with admissions officers. This will be a chance to ask good questions about their school and show how you're a good fit. Building these connections has helped applicants in past cycles! Wondering how to ask "good questions"? Stay connected on resources coming soon!

"I found my dream school that I am currently applying to! I talked with the Dean during the Exhibitor Fair." Pallavi M. (2021 - 2022 applicant who successfully matriculated to her dream school!)
2. Prepare for interviews
From the Mock MMI interactive workshop to connecting with current students and admissions, gain tips and insights into the application process. (Friendly reminder interactive workshops require a ticket. Visit our Workshop page for more information.)
3. Explore your profession
At this point in your journey, you already have a lot of insights into why you are pursuing your career. This is a chance to continue exploration within your field such as general practice/primary care, specialties, and non-clinical careers! Learn directly from practicing professionals during the workshop sessions. Why does it matter? This can help with interview prep, deciding which schools best align with your goals, and general career exploration.
